FAQ
What is BYOK and how does it work?

BYOK means Bring Your Own (LLM) Keys. You connect your existing OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, or any OpenAI-compatible API key directly in the SentinelGate dashboard. Your requests flow through SentinelGate's policy and audit layer, then on to your LLM provider using your key. You pay your LLM provider directly — SentinelGate only charges for the governance layer (policy enforcement, audit logging, compliance tooling). There are no inference markup fees.
What counts as a request?

One request = one call to
POST /v1/chat/completions through the SentinelGate proxy. Each request is inspected for policy violations and logged as a single audit event, regardless of how many messages are in the conversation array. Requests that are blocked by policy are still counted — the inspection itself consumes a governance unit.
What models and LLM providers does SentinelGate support?

SentinelGate is model-agnostic and provider-agnostic. It proxies the OpenAI-compatible
/v1/chat/completions endpoint, so it works with OpenAI (GPT-4o, o3, etc.), Anthropic Claude (via proxy adapter), Azure OpenAI, Mistral, Together AI, Groq, and any other provider that follows the OpenAI API spec. You configure your provider endpoint and key in the dashboard — SentinelGate handles the rest.
Is there a free trial on paid plans?

Yes — Starter and Pro both include a 14-day free trial. No credit card required to start. You'll be prompted to add a payment method before the trial ends.
What happens if I exceed my request limit?

On Starter and Pro, requests above your monthly limit are billed as overage at the rate shown in the comparison table ($2/1,000 on Starter, $1/1,000 on Pro). You'll receive an email alert at 80% usage so you can plan ahead or upgrade. On the Free plan, requests are throttled once the monthly quota is reached — traffic is rate-limited, not hard-blocked.
Can I switch plans mid-cycle?

Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing cycle so you keep full access until the period ends.
Does SentinelGate store my AI request content?

SentinelGate logs structured metadata for every request — tenant, model, policy applied, detections triggered, actions taken — but does not store the raw prompt or response content by default. On Enterprise plans with on-premise deployment, full content capture can be enabled within your own infrastructure under your data governance controls.
How do I get a HIPAA BAA or SOC 2 report?
